    Financial Report 2023

This is the fifth financial status report of the rust-analyzer project Ferrous Systems fund (previous report).

We would like to say a big thank you to all the sponsors of rust-analyzer, past and present. This work is dependent on the generosity of sponsors.

If you like what we are doing — please consider donating to the project; you can do so either via Github Sponsors or through the Open Collective website. And if your company would like to support rust-analyzer, but these platforms don’t fit into your procurement process or are otherwise too hard to deal with, you can always contact Ferrous Systems to figure out a solution.

    The Numbers for 2023

In 2023, you supported us with €68,385.00 on OpenCollective and €26,455.13 on GitHub Sponsors.

€3,006.90 was spent on bank account and host share fees.

€104,329.31 was spent on funding Ferrous Systems employees to work on rust-analyzer.

Unfortuantely, in 2023 no major contributors were funded from working with rust-analyzer. However, external work has been done and our commitment to pay for contributions beyond Ferrous Systems has been carried over into 2024.

Total budget expenditure for 2023 exceeded funding received by €12,506.08.

    OpenCollective

A reminder that the OpenCollective budget does not reflect the actual remaining funds, and never will given that part of the income also comes from GitHub Sponsors.

    Special Thanks

Also a shout-out and big thanks to Embark Studios as they broke the €100,000.00 as well as to Discord for breaking the €80,000.00 mark! This is a significant amount of money supporting the development of rust-analyzer!

Extra thanks goes to AWS as well for sponsoring with a one time payment of $10,000.00 this year.
